American supermodel and actress Emily Ratajkowski has sparked a new trend by repurposing her engagement ring into two diamond ‘divorce rings’. The model recast her two-stone engagement ring ino a pair of diamond rings by Alison Lou, following her divorce from Sebastian Bear-McClard in 2022.
Fine jewellery brand Alison Lou shared an Instagram post of Ratajkowskis’s new jewels, captioned: ‘We made the original two stone engagement ring that set the trend…Here we go again @emrata Divorce Rings’.
While Ratajkowski shared a post to her 30 milliion Instagram followers of her holding her hand up to the camera, with the caption: ‘divorce rings ©? @alisonlou’. On her pinkie finger, she wore a gold band with a large pear-shaped diamond, while her ring finger held a hefty oblong-shaped diamond on a gold band.
In a recent interview with Vogue, Ratajkowski outlined the meaning behind the two rings. ‘The rings represent my own personal evolution’, Ratajkowski shared.
According to Vogue, the idea of repurposing the ring struck Ratajkowski while reading her close friend Stephanie Danler’s essay ‘The Unravelers” in The Paris Review. ‘It includes the story of her grandmother’s snake ring – a ring that is made up of the different stones from her various marriages,’ says Ratajkowski.
