Paige Spiranac issues cryptic message after offering support to Caitlin Clark

In a bit of cross-sport support, former golf pro and influencer Paige Spiranac threw her backing behind Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark after the rookie point guard was shoulder-checked by the Chicago Sky’s Chennedy Carter during a game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The incident — whether or not it was provoked by a flying elbow from Clark at the other end of the court — drew forceful responses from around the sports world, most of them supporting Clark.

Spiranac was one of those who protested “unfair treatment” of Clark following the hard foul, which the WNBA subsequently upgraded to a flagrant foul. However, it appears there is more to the story, as Spiranac took to social media to share a more-opaque message with her followers.

On Instagram Stories, Spiranac shared a four-sentence message with her four million followers on the app after she offered public support to Clark. After thanking followers for their “kind messages,” Spiranac issued a reminder “to not send hateful messages to someone else in a way to support” her.
