Shakira surprised attendees during an interview at the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2023. 
The singer revealed the bombshell news that her team tried to convince her to change the explicit lyrics of her massive hit song with Bizarrap.
Shakira was very direct during the discussion, explaining she felt frustrated with her team at the time. “Leave me alone everyone. I am not a United Nations diplomat, I am an artist. 
I a woman, I a wounded she-wolf,” she continued, making reference to her high-profile split with former soccer player Pique.
“They told me I was crazy”
“They told me: ‘You’re crazy, you have to change those lyrics, that can’t be released.” In the song, Shakira made direct references to her ex, calling him out personally for his poor treatment of her and affair with Clara Chia.
The Colombian acknowledged she feels “very inspired” at this moment in time and is still very much “in love” with her work. 
“There have been stages in which I had to be forced to go to the studio, I had to be dragged there. But it has always played a therapeutic role. I write the most when i’m feeling down,” said Shakira.
