The U.S. women’s water polo team is taking a page out of Taylor Swift’s book at the 2024 Paris Olympics. After being gifted tickets to an Eras Tour concert earlier this year, Team USA is determined to bring the pop icons’ energy and calmness while competing on the world’s biggest stage.

Back in May, the women’s team was extended an invite to Paris to face off against France in a water polo test event. While doing research on fun things to do while abroad, team operational manager Ally Beck learned that Swift would be kicking off her record-breaking tour at Paris’ La Défense Arena – the same venue that will host the final three rounds of the men’s and women’s water polo tournaments.

Taking a blind leap of faith, Beck messaged Swift’s team in hopes of getting free tickets to her show. Sure enough, the songstress delivered with VIP floor section passes for the team’s 15 athletes and eight staff members.

“There is no amount of times to say thank you,” Beck told USA Today. “Just seeing everybody light up, enjoy like the power that is Taylor and kind of getting to watch her in her element and then the extra layer of knowing she’s rocking the La Défense arena and we’re going to go for gold there in a couple of months, just the amount of inspiration we were able to draw from her is a whole other level.”

Several months removed from the unforgettable night, the women’s water polo team has now turned its attention to winning a fourth-straight gold medal at the Paris Games. Team USA has previously secured first place finishes at the 2012 London Games, 2016 Rio Games and 2021 Tokyo Games.
