Shakira and Karol G are two of the most famous and talked about Colombian celebrities in international music, due to the solid career they build. Both shine with their voice and style, standing out in every genre they navigate.
The paisa and the Barranquilla enchanted their fans at the beginning of 2023 with a collaboration they did in urban rhythms. TQG was a revelation, allowing to appreciate the sensuality and coordination that existed between the two when working.

However, according to unofficial and unsubstantiated versions, despite the reception that the song achieved, the Colombians supposedly began to show a very particular distance, since – according to opinions spread on the Internet – neither appeared in the shows of the other and the presentations were not made as a duet. Thus, the comments of third parties focused on that there was supposedly a rivalry, although such a rumor has never been proven.
Even some time ago it was speculated that Shakira had put a stop to her closeness with Karol G for Piqué, since she had appeared at an event of the Spaniard’s company. This was not confirmed, but it remained echoed among the curious.
However, recently, national and international media such as El Periódico and Blu Radio shared information from two foreign sources, which indicated that there would be a confrontation between the artists. Although it was not discussed in depth in the first clip, a detail that few had seen was shown.
Javier de Hoyos, a Spanish journalist, shared a video and explained the reasons he had for this theory, which remains unconfirmed.
“At the time of the song ‘TQG’, Karol G does not use Shakira’s playback singing the song as she does with other artists, she does not even sing the ‘Shakira, Shakira’ that she does on the album. How do you feel? I have the feeling that there is a confrontation between them, not on Karol G’s part. Shakira has been jealous for whatever reason and Karol G has said ‘enough is enough’,” said De Hoyos.
As for Jordi Martin, another Spanish journalist, he commented in a video that he had been aware of what was happening behind Karol G and Shakira. The European pointed out that the relationship would be broken and would be linked to an issue from the past. And it would not be Piqué, but an ex of Karol G.
“The relationship is broken. In the Copa América there was an opportunity to sing TQG together and it was completely ruled out,” he commented.
“The relationship is non-existent, neither one nor the other has any intention of bringing their positions closer together. The reason, and I can deny that it is not Piqué, the real reason, is that Shakira took a photo with Anuel at the presentation of his album. Karol G did not like that and she does not forgive him, but the relationship is more broken than ever,” he added.
It is important to make clear that neither Shakira nor Karol G have spoken about the matter, so we will have to wait to find out what happens between the two.
